Lose Ctrl. Gain Command.
The above is a slogan by Apple. It’s a pretty nifty slogan because it’s true.
Sorta.
I still have a Ctrl key but it’s rarely used. While it is taking a little time to get used to the new keyboard shortcuts, the transition from PC to Mac has been pretty smooth. Figured things out before the welcome email I received from Apple came in. I haven’t made the complete switch, meaning that I still use my gaming rig. But the laptop, which I do most of my usual routine things and everything not directly tied to playing games has been shunted off and replaced with a Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro. I had thought to get a regular Macbook since I could get a 13 inch screen version and maintain maximum mobility. However, the feature set and reviews convinced me to get the 15 inch Pro. Over 10 years of PC usage has me crying for the fact that I have to purchase Mac versions of some of my software, mainly Web Development software. But I think the Pros (pun intended) outweigh the Cons.
The most difficult aspect of the switch was transferring my music in iTunes on my PC laptop to my Mac. I foresaw a very painful transfer. But! iPodRip came to the rescue, turning a tedious painful experience into a relatively pleasant one. Too bad the Windows port of iPodRip is buggy and couldn’t work in transferring my mum’s music from her dying dinosaur of a laptop, which was actually my second laptop, to the one I shunted to her.
Speaking of that dinosaur Dell lappie, it was my second laptop but it was my first that could actually work without having to use the AC cord. My first ever laptop was, I think, a Powerbook 150. It was used and I got it pretty cheap.
Guess you could say I’ve gone full circle.

[...] Air is so edgy, so sharp that it cuts cool and slices seductive. I’ve had my Macbook Pro for just over a year and when I got it, never thought I’d get a new laptop (unless it was an improved MBP). But [...]
