In and Out?
So, it’s seemingly difficult to surf the web and not come across a blog about the iPhone. Guess what? Here’s another post about it.
When I heard about the requirement to purchase a data plan along with the iPhone it didn’t surprise me but I did think “Oh great… that’s where AT&T will scoop up the bucks.” Would only the elite be able to have the iPhone? Or those with easier spending allowances than other folks?
Sorta kinda.
The rate plans are by no means cheap. but they aren’t exorbitant. In fact, it’s actually cheaper than what I’m currently paying and for pretty much the same features. Also, it’s been mentioned that purchasing an iPhone itself will be pretty much the same as any apple product. Meaning, you’ll buy the iPhone and it’ll remain in the box until you open it yourself. Supposedly, even employees at the AT&T shops won’t get their grubby hands on your iPhone. Once you’ve unboxed your iPhone and hold it lovingly against your bosom, you just hook it up to your computer and activation will be done through iTunes. You’ll choose your service plan and everything from there. No hassle or frazzle. How it actually works, though, remains to be seen but it does sound promisingly convenient.
Apple knows just how to break down the walls of self-control. However, I’d still like to wait a week or two to see what kinks, if any, crop up. Not being able to switch out the battery is one of those things that seems… well, yeah. Even if through all the cell phones I’ve gone through, I haven’t ever switched out the batteries, that option being available was reassuring. 8Gigs seems just too small also. Especially considering I’m using nearly 20Gigs on my video iPod. Minus the videos and I still have roughly 1600 songs. Granted, I don’t have to have them all at the ready but such bountiful freedom of choice is nice and might just be a sacrifice I can’t handle.
Yet, the early adopter in me just screams, BUY IT.
